A breast cancer diagnosis comes as a shock to most women. This emotional shock is followed by feelings of anger, hopelessness, and loss of control. One day you are a healthy person engaged in life and the next day you become a patient of breast cancer. At this difficult time, we want you to know that you are not alone. We also want to help make decisions that are best for you.
You have Immediate Support
One of the greatest resources available to newly diagnosed women is the Breast Cancer Health Educator Nurse at The Corvallis Clinic. Joann Stutzman, RN, is here to help you navigate through the maze of health care resources, and help you and your family to understand your disease and treatment options.
She can answer your many questions about treatment methods, surgery, time frames and side affects. She works with your doctor, serving as a liaison to coordinate your appointments and provide resources. One of her most important roles is to help you coordinate the various medical doctors with whom you will meet. If surgery is required, she provides follow-up phone calls at intervals prior to the surgery and after the surgery.
She is available to you and your family for as long as needed.
