NEWS from The Corvallis Clinic
Sept. 12, 2017
CORVALLIS – Elisabeth Mahmud (Ma-mood), a certified adult-geriatric nurse practitioner, is now providing wellness exams for Medicare patients of Corvallis Clinic primary-care providers located in the Asbury Building in Corvallis, North Albany Village, and Waverly Drive-Albany.
For an appointment, call 541-757-3750.
As part of The Clinic’s Medicare Wellness Program, Ms. Mahmud offers risk assessments, disease-prevention counseling and information on available resources for these Medicare patients of The Clinic. To see a video of Ms. Mahmud explaining the program, go to Wellness.
The program is designed so that such patients take advantage of the health and wellness benefits of the “Welcome to Medicare” preventive visit and the yearly “Wellness” visits covered by Medicare. Ms. Mahmud does not replace their Clinic primary-care providers but rather supplements them by offering enhanced access to ensure their healthcare needs are met.
The journey to becoming an adult-geriatric nurse practitioner for Ms. Mahmud began as a nursing assistant, listening to patients. “My favorite stories came from older adults who had been in this world the longest.” Observing how being listened to helped them heal emotionally, she earned a master’s in psychology. However, after time as a counselor, she realized she wanted to help patients take charge of their physical health as well. “I want patients to understand their health and be put on a healing path.”
Prior to joining The Clinic, Ms. Mahmud was a nurse practitioner at Crown Health Medical House Call Service in Maple Valley, Wash., from 2016 to 2017. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Seattle University in 2016 and is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care.
Outside of her practice, she enjoys taking road trips and exploring the outdoors with her husband and their three young children.
