In addition to her internal medicine skills of solving complex diagnostic issues and managing chronic illnesses in adults, Dr. Arbuck brings special knowledge in infectious diseases.
Dr. Arbuck comes to The Clinic from Advanced Family Medicine in Redmond, Wash., where she was a staff physician. She was also a staff physician at Multicare Health System in Auburn, Wash., from 2011 to 2015 and the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., from 2008 to 2011. She was also an infectious diseases consultant at Northwest Medical Specialties in Tacoma, from 2004 to 2008 and at South Sound Inpatient Physicians in Auburn, from 2003 to 2004.
She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is eligible for re-certification in infectious disease.
Dr. Arbuck said her impetus for becoming a physician is her “great interest in human psychology.” In fact, after leaving her native Russia with her 7-year-old son in 1995 and before passing the medical boards to get into a U.S. residency program, she worked as a nursing assistant in a psychiatric hospital. She then did about a year-long psychiatric residency.
She said she strives to become “a listening and non- judgmental friend,” who is also “straight and frank.”
Dr. Arbuck earned her medical degree from Yaroslavl Medical Academy, in Yaroslavl, Russia, in 1982. She completed an internal medicine residency at St.Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, in 1999, and an infectious disease fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2001.
She has two passions outside work: outdoor (“au plen air”) painting and Scottish Terrier Rescue. “I have had a number of Scotties since 2000,” she said. “I frequently take in elderly abandoned animals to make their last years the happiest – and I am good at it, too!”
