Edward H. Piepmeier, Jr., MD, PhD
Immediate Care
“Immediate care allows me to use my prior experiences to help patients meet a broad range of immediate health care needs.”
Language(s) - English
Dr. Piepmeier was raised in Corvallis, Oregon, attending the Corvallis Montessori School and then the 509J school district throughout high school. He also attended Oregon State University, where he earned a PhD in pharmacy and met his wife.
While working as a pharmacy professor for nearly ten years, he developed teaching and research skills that helped him identify the best way to solve a health care problem and the best way to communicate that to each patient. As a professor, he had the privilege of working with leaders in immunology, chemistry, and biochemistry to advance his research. As a primary care physician, he surrounds himself with specialists. He uses their knowledge as needed to provide the best possible care for his patients.
After practicing full-spectrum family medicine in Corvallis for six years, his family traveled overseas to Germany- where he worked for the U.S. Army for several years. He then returned to Oregon to practice emergency medicine. In the past, he experienced the thrill of bringing a 6-year-old back to life whose heart and lungs had stopped for 45 minutes and to deliver many babies in Corvallis.
“Each patient presents with a problem that is relevant to them, and being able to help them meet life’s challenges is equally rewarding,” expressed Dr. Piepmeier. His family members have struggled to find solutions to their health care concerns, so they understand his passion for ensuring that each of his patients receives the best possible health care. This has allowed him to treat each patient like a family member to ensure that they receive the best possible care.
With six years of experience in emergency medicine, patients can expect that Dr. Piepmeier will be empathetic and understand the urgency to solve their health care problems. While a solution can often be identified after listening to a patient, further testing or consultation may be necessary. This provides the most effective plan to fit the patient’s goals and lifestyle.
Outside of his work in Immediate Care, his hobbies include jogging with his dog, swimming, hiking throughout the Oregon wilderness, traveling with his family, and playing Pokémon Go. After living in the Netherlands, Germany, and receiving his medical training in Texas, he also has some conversational knowledge of Dutch, German, and Spanish.
