Deborah Webster, PhD, was drawn to healthcare at a young age. While in high school, her mother experienced many challenges after developing chronic and disabling leg and knee pain that was unresponsive to traditional medical treatment. This experience inspired her to understand and support people dealing with chronic pain. She pursued a PhD in clinical psychology with a post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, focusing on pain management.
A significant experience for Dr. Webster is her work with active-duty military personnel and veterans for over a decade. “Supporting those who have sacrificed so much for their country has left a lasting impact. I have learned something from every patient.” While Dr. Webster is particularly interested in chronic pain, her clinical practice includes depression, anxiety, and life adjustment issues.
Dr. Webster takes a patient-centered approach and sees herself as a guide and teacher equipping her patients with the tools they need to overcome challenges. She values active listening to understand her patients’ values and goals best while simultaneously developing strategies for their well-being.
In her free time, Dr. Webster loves spending time outdoors and hiking on the coast. She has two sons, one of whom will attend OSU this fall. She has a great Pyrenees/Lab mix named Gus, and a cat who rules the roost, named Pearl.
