After seven years of dedicated service at The Corvallis Clinic, John Stephen “Steve” Thompson, MD, is retiring. His contributions, particularly in rheumatology and as a member of the PEER Review Committee in recent years, have impacted his colleagues and patients. His last day with The Corvallis Clinic will be June 5, 2025.
Dr. Thompson appreciates his time at The Corvallis Clinic and shares that it has been a pleasure to be part of such a supportive and collaborative environment. He speaks highly of the Internal Medicine team, emphasizing how their expertise, camaraderie, and willingness to assist made a meaningful difference in his practice. Their dedication and teamwork enhanced patient care and created an atmosphere of trust and support that he will fondly remember as he steps into retirement.
One of the greatest lessons he has learned throughout his career is the importance of humility in patient care. He emphasizes that preconceived opinions can often be incorrect, reinforcing the need to approach each patient with an open mind rather than relying solely on their chart.
For those continuing in the medical field, he shares the importance of hard work, remaining open to advice from peers, and not being afraid to ask for it. He believes that seeking guidance and learning from others is essential for professional growth and emphasizes the value of constructive criticism as an opportunity to improve and refine one’s skills.
As he steps into retirement, Dr. Thompson looks forward to embracing new adventures. He is excited to spend more time camping, exploring the outdoors, and traveling throughout the West with his travel trailer. He also plans to dedicate more time to reading, exercising regularly, and focusing on his health. The Corvallis Clinic sincerely thanks Dr. Thompson for his dedication and service and wishes him happiness and fulfillment in this exciting new chapter of his life.
